Kerry ONeal

Kerry ONeal is the author of thirty-two published books spanning multiple genres, from children’s literature to horror, paranormal, romance, and non-fiction. He released his first two illustrated children’s books in 2006. In 2014, following the passing of his mother to Alzheimer’s disease the year before, he wrote a short story in one day, Wilma, dedicated to her memory. Inspired to continue, he completed another story within two days, and soon after, eleven more. These were collected in his first anthology, What If - An Anthology of 13 Short Stories.

Kerry’s passion for storytelling was encouraged from an early age by his father, a man sometimes referred to as a Renaissance man who was an author, concert pianist, artist, French and English teacher, and dance instructor. His father’s untimely death in 2003 became a turning point, motivating Kerry to pursue writing in earnest. Influenced by authors such as Michael Crichton, Anne Rice, Stephen King, and Dean Koontz, Kerry cites All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque as his favorite novel.

In 2018 and 2019, he was invited as a guest speaker for Q&A sessions at the Spooky Empire Convention. After completing numerous book-signing tours, Kerry relocated to Illinois to be closer to his daughters, four grandchildren, and extended family. In 2020, he was interviewed on America Tonight radio by Kate Delaney to discuss his novella Nightmare, which earned three 5-star reviews from Reader’s Favorite. In 2023, he was interviewed on local FM radio stations and on Fox News and CBS News following the release of his psychological thriller, Fractured Suture: Revelations of a Serial Killer.

Kerry’s recent works include the non-fiction titles, Living with Alzheimer’s - A Spiritual Journey and Living with Parkinson’s Together, about life with his partner, Lisa, who has the disease. On December 12, 2025, he appeared on WCIA Channel 3 for an interview discussing his book, Living with Alzheimer’s - A Spiritual Journey, and announcing his upcoming book signing and Q&A event scheduled for January 17, 2026.

He also published his first romance novel, The Best Year of My Life - A Love Story, along with The Presence Collection, a series of thirty-six ghostly tales, and The Gothic Horror Chronicles, four interwoven medieval Gothic horror novels set during the bubonic plague, featuring vampires and werewolves. Currently, he is working on a book of short stories about various alien invasions that have never been depicted in movies or books, titled Quiet Invasions.

Inside the Mind - Kerry ONeal

Kerry ONeal
  • What inspired you to start writing?
My Dad was a writer, artist, painter, dancer, and concert pianist. He always inspired me, saying I was extremely creative, so after his death in 2003, I wrote and illustrated two children's books. Since then, I've written and published over 32 books in every genre.
  • Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
The two projects I'm working on simultaneously are a 3-book science fiction series about a superior intelligent entity discovered deep within the Earth, since early mankind observed crashing into our planet. (The Velathri Cycle Series) The other book is the true story of my Mom's parents, who immigrated from Italy in the early 1920s, and the struggles they encountered. (Echoes of Lamoli - A True Story)
