About the Book

This is a book of fantasy with a new twist. Fantasy novels usually run along standard templates – wild settings, wild characters. On the contrary, in this novel, fantasy has been judiciously and skilfully woven into the fabric of present day activities amidst real day-to-to-day settings, creating tantalising images of both reality and illusion. The readers have been gently persuaded to accept the co-existence of both. The main technique has been to infuse humour copiously – a hero with a hundred names, for one. The other method has been to introduce a mode of “fuzzy-dizzy” logic. This is a tongue-in-cheek kind of reasoning that uses apparently logical expressions to explain the many fantastic, unbelievable, impossible, improbable events that throng the pages of the novel. To my knowledge (agreed it is limited), no author has so far employed this kind of funny dialogues. There is continuous action throughout, to engage the reader. A couple of tender, touching scenes are sure bring tears in the eyes of some sensitive readers.

At the outset, in the first chapter, discover how to make a billion dollars sans the sweat. And later you can discover too, how it could all go down the drain in a second.

In the second chapter it is shown how to gain an extra eighth day in a week. Really. Only, you have to meet the hero, Bagus in a wild forest and follow his imagination faithfully. And, ah, yes, that funny guy has got more than a hundred names, Choose to call him any way you want.

And then the roses rise, to take on the challenge of noise pollution. They rise to give you thrills and chills – an experience not easy to digest, and not easy to forget either. All made possible, courtesy, the hero.

The hero (he is actually a mad old man) has been admitted to a lunatic asylum. He goes rampant there driving others up the wall. But there is a deep, past-life connection which the doctor treating him will discover slowly, with horrifying consequences. Fortunately, the mad man sees to it that everything (and every one) ends up normally. The episode is a true rampage and a stampede of indescribable humour.

Instead of the usual eternal triangle, here is a RECTANGLE! - involving two gents and two ladies. Their emotions and motives and loves have been mixed up. How do we solve such a mad situation? Approach our mad man of course. Using the ingredients of fuzzy-dizzy logic and his unbridled imagination, he sorts out the situation skilfully using a dozen delightful strategies, each one appearing to be improbable, funny, and impractical. But the end result is irrefutably practical, with total satisfaction to all parties involved.

The final chapter is a sort of rounding off, bringing all the characters together. But watch out, there is a totally unexpected ending – and a tender, soulful finish.
