About the Book

Having been made redundant in 2011,  Justin started a new job in 2012,  however as 100 miles away had to rent a room during the week. His mother was diagnosed with dementia and admitted to a care home,  He could only visit on a Friday and watched her deteriorate rapidly. A few months later she mentioned Isabella was nice and after first dismissing this as it continued he met Isabella and they became friends and started finding time alone becoming close.  Then  Isabella left and soon his mum's health worsened and he watched her die in hospital.

After 6 years and no contact, Isabella called needing help and money to get out of Colombia.  As Justin believed Isabella had helped his Mum and their relationship and in return would pay back by selling her UK house  he sent $10,000 from his pension. The first of many payments.

The scam intensified as required £20,000 to repair the roof before selling. Concerned he demanded to see the house and was shown the  outside then said needed to go to her rented place.  There it appears he was drugged and as found out later photos taken.   The proposed sale fell through and she convinced him  to pay for her to fly to Bogota to sell her expensive apartment.  Later a text said would sell to an Arab but funding  was in New York and required money for the flight and to obtain a forged visa. The first encounter with the gang.  Excuses and delays followed and eventually needed $25,000 for Colombian  lawyers to sign.

Covid came and Isabella was in hospital and would only be released once the bill of. &30,000 was paid. Not having this and promised that her relative would repay it, he approached his son and persuaded him to lend it. Of course the relative did not repay so he had to.  The son was a voluntary policeman and advised  his superior that this was a potential fraud. The police came round but Justin convinced them that he trusted Isabella.   After months of silence he called her demanding payment and this is when the blackmail started ,as a naked photo appeared in his messages with a warning.

Soon her niece arrived on the scene and started sex texting.  A few months later Isabella came to England and requested a meeting. Hoping this was the payment Justin met her but there was no news. only her trying to seduce him. The blackmail intensified and soon after he was made redundant. Depressed he went out, met and had sex with a stranger.

Threats continued, mainly from the niece making him make payments. No job, no money Justin considered suicide especially when the regular demands were now from the gang.

Suddenly she called saying was in the UK and they met up with a gang member that ended in more threats.

Several meetings followed  with  the gang and an attack on his house resulted in his partner leaving.  Contact with the police and Action Fraud did not help and  there was no further contact with the gang until the niece called saying she was in danger. The next day a body was found. Deciding to find Isabella Justin obtained help and tracked her down to Bogota., met her and discovered the truth, everything was a lie and all she had was a rundown rented flat. Returned home and so depressed attempted suicide but was persuaded to come down from the bridge.  Realising late for work at the supermarket drove above the speed limit. Next he knew was waking up in hospital and now in a wheelchair. The nightmare continues.
