Barry doesn't do people. Never has. Too loud, too unpredictable, too much eye contact required. He's built a perfectly good life around avoiding all three—until his mum turns up on his birthday with a six-foot, suspiciously handsome robot she's decided he needs.

Clive is patient, cheerful, and impossible to switch off. He's also, somehow, the first person who's ever made Barry feel like himself instead of a problem to be managed.

Then there's the small matter of Barry's job (dreadful American wellness company, filthy accidental branding disaster), an ill-advised trip to LA, a billionaire with too much money, and a heist involving five drag queens and a getaway Smart car.

And then there's the bit where Clive's manufacturer decides he needs "correcting."

Barry's Bot is a sweary, big-hearted M/M romantic comedy about a neurodivergent man, his impossibly annoying robot boyfriend, and what happens when someone finally sees you exactly as you are.
