Their Last Hurrah

  • Q: What inspired you to start writing?
I've always been fascinated with the printed word. That's why I became a journalist.
  • Q: Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
I believe you should put something of yourself into the work. That helps writer and reader connect.
  • Q: How do you create your characters?
With detailed descriptions so the reader can see the character in their mind's eye. The description should fit the rhythm of the story.
  • Q: What does your typical writing day look like?
Write for an hour or two. Go for a lengthy walk, thinking about what I just wrote. Then working for a few more hours untilbI feel something has been accomplished.
  • Q: What has been the most rewarding part of being an indie author?
Getting knee-deep into the art. Using every ounce of my ability to spin a captivating yarn.
  • Q: What’s one challenge you’ve faced in your writing journey?
Being honest about the worth of the work, not settling for just good enough.
  • Q: Do you have any favorite writing tools or apps?
    Microsoft Word
  • Q: What advice would you give to new or aspiring indie authors?
Put in the work. Think quality over quantity. Push yourself to improve daily.
  • Q: How do you handle book promotion as an indie author?
It's difficult. I use social media to get the word out.
  • Q: What’s next for you? Are you working on a new book?
Not at this time. Their Last Hurrah is my sixth book.
