Q: What inspired you to start writing?
I think my children and their love of hearing me read or make up stories. I always wanted to have a legacy and in writing and publishing my book I have that.
-
Q: Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is called the Blades of Time. A thriller set in modern day Scotland and 1944 Aberdeenshire.
-
Q: How do you create your characters?
I have based my children's book characters on people I know or just align a personality with the appropriate creature.
-
Q: What does your typical writing day look like?
I try and write every day even if it is only for a short time. Sadly my day job gets in the way!
-
Q: What has been the most rewarding part of being an indie author?
Control of what I want to write, when I want to write it and the sheer joy of sharing my books with local children when ever I can
-
Q: What’s one challenge you’ve faced in your writing journey?
Doubting myself and rewriting a chapter over and over and then returning back to the original idea.
-
Q: Do you have any favorite writing tools or apps?
Pad and paper for ideas and my laptop for writing.
-
Q: What advice would you give to new or aspiring indie authors?
Just do it! Get bit down on paper and just write and see where it take you. There are so many people out there who can support.
-
Q: How do you handle book promotion as an indie author?
Very poorly to be honest, but then again I was only in it for the sheer joy of writing so don't get too stressed if I only sell a few copies.
-
Q: What’s next for you? Are you working on a new book?
Continuing on the Blades of Time journey, marketing my published titles and formulating the next project!
