Q: What inspired you to start writing?
I've always been inspired by my grandparents' love story. For years, I considered writing it, but my deep love for country life sparked a completely different idea instead. That idea became my debut novel, and once I finished it, I was hooked. Since then, I haven't stopped writing.

Q: Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book, The Other Side of Helene, is a grumpy-sunshine, forced-proximity romance set against the devastating backdrop of Hurricane Helene. It's a story that blends survival, suspense, and romance, so it's perfect for readers who enjoy high-stakes adventures with plenty of heart.
After Hurricane Helene, I closely followed the devastation in Chimney Rock, and the images and stories stayed with me. I felt the people and communities affected deserved to be remembered, and writing this novel became my way of honoring what they endured. While the romance is fictional, the setting and disaster were inspired by real events, making the book as much a tribute to the resilience of the victims and survivors as it is a love story.

Q: How do you create your characters?
My characters usually begin with people I admire. I'll often imagine who could play them if the story were ever adapted into a movie, and that person becomes the inspiration for the character's appearance, mannerisms, and personality. From there, I let the story shape them further, giving them their own strengths, flaws, and unique voice until they become characters in their own right.

Q: What does your typical writing day look like?
Pure chaos! I'm a single, stay-at-home mom who's building a life through writing, so every day is a balancing act. I work through my never-ending to-do list, fit writing into every spare moment I can find, and when the house finally gets quiet, I settle in for focused writing sessions that often last until I'm practically falling asleep at my computer. It may not be glamorous, but it's a routine built on determination, and I wouldn't trade it.

Q: What has been the most rewarding part of being an indie author?
The most rewarding part has been seeing readers connect with the stories I write. Knowing that something I created can entertain, move, or stay with someone long after they've finished reading is incredibly fulfilling. And being able to earn a living doing something I'm genuinely passionate about makes it even more rewarding.

Q: Do you have any favorite writing tools or apps?
No. I worked in admin for years so it doesn't bother me much.

Q: What advice would you give to new or aspiring indie authors?
Stay true to your passion. Don't let the reviews break you. Not everyone is going to like what you write but keeping writing for the ones who do.

Q: How do you handle book promotion as an indie author?
Like tossing out a bait on a hook and pray that it catches the right pair of eyes.

Q: What’s next for you? Are you working on a new book?
I am currently working on two books and I have a bunch of ideas in my notebook waiting to be written.
