Q: What inspired you to start writing?
I was inspired to start writing because I wanted to tell authentic stories that celebrate Black love, faith, family, and the beauty and complexities of church culture. Danielle Steel’s The Gift inspired me to pursue writing, and over time it became more than a passion—it became a calling. I want my stories to entertain, inspire, and remind readers that redemption and purpose are possible for everyone.

Q: Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book, His Favorite Drumbeat, is part of my Church Chronicles series and is a faith-rooted Christian romance centered on healing, purpose, and second chances. It explores how God can use our struggles, our gifts, and even our fears to guide us toward the life we’re meant to live. Readers will experience love, faith, family dynamics, and a little church drama, all wrapped in a story that reminds us that everyone has a unique rhythm designed by God.

Q: What’s one challenge you’ve faced in your writing journey?
One of my biggest challenges has been balancing writing with my responsibilities as an entrepreneur, IT leader, and business owner. I’ve also had to overcome the fear of being vulnerable because my stories touch on faith, church culture, and real-life experiences. I’ve learned that perfection isn’t the goal—impact is. Once I embraced that, writing became less about getting everything right and more about being authentic and telling the stories God placed on my heart.

Q: What advice would you give to new or aspiring indie authors?
My advice is to start before you feel ready. Don’t chase perfection—chase progress. Learn the business side of being an author because writing the book is only half the job. Stay authentic, build genuine relationships, and don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Most importantly, be consistent and don’t give up, because someone is waiting for the story only you can tell.

Q: What’s next for you? Are you working on a new book?
Yes! I’m launching a brand-new series called The LeFluer Family Legacy, beginning with Unknown Daughter. It’s a multigenerational Christian family drama centered around Samantha Nicole LeFluer, a successful businesswoman whose existence exposes a long-hidden family secret. The series explores faith, family, legacy, wealth, and identity while celebrating Black excellence and redemption. Readers can expect emotional twists, powerful characters, and a story that asks: What happens when the truth finally comes home?
